SWTEC Celebrates Retirement of Jamie "Dobs" Lively

Southwest Texas EC Celebrates the Retirement of Jamie “Dobs” Lively

“Early in my career and as a young lineman, the cooperative instilled the mentality of hard work and looking after one another like family. It really stayed and carried me through my career,” said Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative Operations Manager, Jamie “Dobs” Lively about his career.

On Thursday, May 24, Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative celebrated Lively’s 42 year career and his retirement. Many current employees, former employees, and family and friends came out to the reception send off. L.P. Nixon, Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative’s new Operations Manager worked 41 years alongside Lively noting “After you have worked with someone for that long and gone through the up and downs over the years, you become almost brothers. Dobs had a great career.”

Lively began his career with Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative in 1975, working his way through the ranks of lineman, and finally to Operations Manager. When asked what it has meant to work at Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative for so long, Lively said “I will always cherish the friendships I made during my career…the coop truly became a family to me.” Lively continued, “Regardless of the situation, you could always count on someone having your back. We worked hard, but we also really learned to make the most of our time together.”
