About Us

August 12, 1958 - P.K. McIntosh, shovel in hand, turns one of first spades of
dirt in ceremony marking construction of Southwest Texas Co-op's new
home in Eldorado. Several founders, directors, employees, and friends
gathered to observe the groundbreaking.

Welcome to Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative!

As a local member-owned electric co-op, we were founded on the concept of providing dependable, cost-efficient power to residential, commercial and agricultural consumer-members.

Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative is a member owned electric utility that serves all or parts of Schleicher, Sutton, Menard, Tom Green, Irion, Reagan, Upton, Crockett, Pecos, Val Verde, Concho, and Edwards counties.

Chartered in 1939, Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative provides electric service to around 9,867 meters within 7,200 square miles of rural West Texas.

A lot has changed since our co-op was established in 1939, but our commitment to provide safety, service and satisfaction, one member at a time, remains the same.

Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative is proud to be one of more than 677 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives across the nation that are dedicated to serving member-owners with integrity, accountability, innovation and a longstanding commitment to the community.
